
When Israel Came Out of Egypt: Practical Help for Lent
February 15 - 17, Friday 6 p.m. until Sunday 11 a.m.The story of the Exodus from Egypt, the great Transitus in the Judeo- Christian tradition, provides the background for the Christian celebrations of Lent and Easter. Through the lens of this story we will reflect on change and challenge, conversion and resurrection, offering help for Christians living in transitional times.
Presenters:
The Right Reverend John C. Bauerschmidt, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of
Tennessee, attended the General Theological Seminary in New York from 1981-1984. While serving at All Saints’ Church in Worcester, MA in 1985, he was ordained priest. John married Caroline Pearce in 1986.
John and Caroline moved to Great Britain in 1987 for John to pursue further studies at New College at Oxford University. He was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1996. John has served as Rector of Christ Church,
Albemarle, NC until 1997 and as Rector of Christ Church, Covington, LA until his election as Bishop of Tennessee. He served as President of the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Louisiana and as a Deputy to the
2006 General Convention. John and Caroline have 3 children, William, Henry, and Caroline. In his spare time, John enjoys reading (fiction, history, poetry), jogging and scale modeling.
