Clergy Enrichment

March 10-11,Monday 12 noon until Tuesday 2 pm

"In the Steps of the Wounded Healer"

"I carry in the marks of Jesus branded in my body." So writes Paul at the end of this letter to the church in Galatia. And Henri Nouwen's title, The Wounded Healer, became a controlling image for a generation of clergy from all branches of the Church.

In this retreat experienced director Carl Arico will lead clergy in a consideration of their common vocation through reflection on the Paschal Mystery in preparation for Easter. One's wounds will be seen not so much as liabilities as opportunities for God's healing and openings for becoming more of an agent of this healing in the lives of others. Ample time will be given to silence and to the prayerful reading of Scripture (Lectio Divina), as well as to conferences with the retreat leader. This is an opportunity to offer one's wounds to be healed, one's sins to be forgiven, and one's service to be celebrated.

As Thomas Keating has put it, "The goal is the glorification of God working in our human weakness...an immense and indeed infinite Intelligence is working within us and often in spite of us... We take refuge in the Father.

As wounded healers the ordained manifest the Paschal Mystery living the Easter life. This retreat is designed to foster that reality.

Clergy from all branches of the Church are encouraged to participate.
