The Buddha’s Four Noble Truths: A Blueprint for Dancing with Life

October 8 – 10 2010, Friday 6 p.m. until Sunday 11 a.m.

We all struggle to find meaning and joy amidst the ever-changing challenges of life. Whatever your religious orientation, the Buddha's teaching of the Four Noble Truths offers you insight into how to experience what is difficult in your life without being filled with stress and anguish. The Four Noble Truths is not just a philosophical statement, it is a progressive "practice" that yields practical benefits in your life. In this retreat for both beginning and advanced students, we will learn how mindfulness meditation can help integrate the insights of the Four Noble Truths into your daily life.

Presenter:

Phillip Moffitt is the founder and president of the Life Balance Institute, a non-profit organization devoted to the study and practice of spiritual values in daily life, and a member of the Teachers Council at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Northern California.

Phillip teaches vipassana meditation at retreat centers around the United States and holds a weekly meditation class in Marin County, California. He is the author of Dancing with Life: Buddhist Insights for Finding Meaning and Joy in the Face of Suffering (Rodale, April 2008) and has written for numerous magazines, including Yoga Journal, Body and Soul, and Shambhala Sun.
