Eight-Day Centering Prayer Retreat [wait list only]
(All Event Times Listed are Central Standard Time)
Sewanee, TN 37375
This retreat is an opportunity for practitioners of Centering Prayer to deepen their contemplative journey in the contemporary world. It is a week-long experience of integrating contemplation and action through silence, solitude and community.
{This retreat is full; to be added to the Wait List, please call the Center directly.}
The retreat offers two tracks. The Intensive Track is recommended for people who have completed the Introductory Workshop and who have a regular practice of Centering Prayer. The Post-Intensive Track is for those people who have previously made an Eight-Day Intensive Retreat. The Post-Intensive offers increased silence and additional periods of Centering Prayer. Both the Intensive and Post-Intensive Centering Prayer Retreat provide daily experiences of silence, solitude, walking, hiking, yoga, and spiritual companionship to foster an ever-deepening level of interior silence and awareness of the presence of God in everyday life.
The Rev. David Frazelle started practicing Centering Prayer as an undergraduate at Sewanee in 1996. Ever since participating in his first Centering Prayer retreat in 1997, one of his chief joys has been sharing contemplative prayer through leading Centering Prayer groups, workshops, and retreats. David lives with his wife and two children in Chapel Hill, and serves as Vicar of St. Christopher’s, Garner, North Carolina.
The Rev. Tom Ward is the retired university chaplain at the University of the South and now spends his days focusing on the contemplative dimension of the gospel, teaching Centering Prayer and leading retreats.
