THIS EVENT IS FULLY BOOKED. IF YOU’D LIKE TO BE PUT ON THE WAIT LIST,
PLEASE CALL ST. MARY’S SEWANEE DIRECTLY AT 931.598.5342.

This workshop, led by Connie Keetle, is an invitation to slow down, become fully present in the moment, and have a full sensory experience of the forest. Through a standard sequence of invitations, participants develop their own meaningful relationship with nature. This is a worldwide practice that leaves participants feeling calmer, lighter, more grounded and relaxed, and at peace.

Forest Therapy is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. It is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku (which translates into “forest bathing). Studies have demonstrated a wide array of health benefits including in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for stabilizing and improving mood and cognition.

After time in the forest, and a break for lunch, participants will be invited to respond to their experience by drawing on the creative energies generated by the walk. During this time, Keetle draws together her love of painting and her passion for nature.

The workshop fee includes lunch and all materials. No prior experience painting is required or expected.

Connie Keetle was born in Maryland and primarily grew up in Vermont where she enjoyed countless hours of freedom exploring and loving the land around her. She received a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. She currently lives on the Cumberland Plateau in Sewanee, Tennessee, where she paints full time at her home studio. Connie is certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs as a Forest Therapy Guide. When she is working as a guide, she is practicing the art of cultivating relationships with nature through sensory connections. A lifetime of observing and creatively responding to nature continue to inspire and inform her passions in art and life.

This event is fully booked.
