Lectio Divina, literally “divine reading,” is an ancient practice of praying the Scriptures. This introductory retreat, led by the Rev. Tom Ward, will focus on the building blocks of a developing and sustaining a contemplative life in the world. During Lectio Divina, the practitioner listens to the text of the Bible with the “ear of the heart,” as if one is in conversation with God. Lectio Divina includes moments of reading (lectio), reflecting on (meditatio), responding to (oratio) and resting in (contemplatio) the Word of God with the aim of nourishing and deepening one’s relationship with the Divine. Periods of silent Centering Prayer will be a part of the retreat.

No prior experience with Lectio Divina or Centering Prayer is required to attend this retreat.
