The “secret” to vitality & whole-body wellness isn’t a secret at all; it’s Ayurveda, and it’s accessible to everyone, including you. Ayurveda is the “Science of Longevity,” and it’s an ancient traditional medicine & healing practice of India. Ayurveda is a practical and intuitive framework that reconnects people to the energetic rhythms of Nature. This framework empowers individuals to make lifestyle choices that are not only beneficial for the person, but for all humankind, all living creature and the environment that sustains us. Often called “the yogi’s wellness toolbox” this comprehensive healing system is based on the wisdom of nature that supports how to live your yoga practice in your everyday life. Through life-affirming & holistic lifestyle practices, Ayurveda provides a path to whole-person wellness.
During this weekend wellness immersion retreat you’ll not only establish foundational knowledge of Ayurveda, but expand on this foundation:
learn how to develop daily & seasonal self-care practices
learn how to integrate Ayurvedic wisdom into your yoga practice
learn how use your five senses to support optimal health & wellbeing
learn how to bring Ayurveda into your kitchen.
Please, bring with you a journal/ notebook and writing tools for note-taking (please no audio or video recordings). In addition, bring with you a small special or sacred object that can serve as a “container” for your time at the retreat. Crystals are always a good choice! While not required, Jo-Jo recommends reading Ayurveda: Nature’s Medicine by Dr. Subhash Ranade & Dr. David Frawley to elevate your learning experience.
You will have access to practice daily yoga and meditation. Please plan to dress comfortably in clothing that is easy to move freely & breath freely. Whether that clothing is loose-fitting or form-fitting is at the preference of the individual. Casual exercise clothing, “athleisure” clothing, yoga clothing, etc., are all great options.
While Jo-Jo will have some props available to share with students, please plan to bring you own set of yoga props to use throughout our time together.
Jo-Jo recommends for you to bring:
1 yoga mat
1 yoga strap
1 bolster or firm body cushion
1 eye pillow
2 yoga blocks (either cork or foam is fine)
2 blankets (the Baja-style blankets are best)
