Perennial Wisdom: The God Beyond Our Understanding
The first of four points of Perennial Wisdom is that life is the manifesting of non-dual Aliveness. To realize Aliveness is to awaken to your true nature. Drawing on the mystic heart of the world’s religions we explore the implications of this truth and engage in a variety of contemplative practices to validate it.
One River Wisdom School fosters religious literacy and spiritual maturation in a welcoming, contemplative weekend retreat setting. While each retreat has its own focus, all retreats are grounded in five core disciplines practiced throughout the day: Qigong, Lovingkindness, Mindfulness Meditation, Contemplative Study, and Self–Inquiry. Rabbi Rami Shapiro and Rev. Dr. Gordon Peerman comprise the core faculty, and are often joined by other teachers.
The Rev. Dr. Gordon Peerman is an Episcopal priest and psychotherapist in private practice in Nashville, TN. He leads One River Wisdom School Nashville, which meets weekly at Second Presbyterian Church. Gordon is the author of Blessed Relief: What Christians Can Learn from Buddhists about Suffering.
Rabbi Rami is an author, lecturer, and podcast host. A congregational rabbi for 20 years and a Professor of Religious Studies for 10, Rabbi Rami writes the Roadside Assistance for the Spiritual Traveler column for Spirituality and Health magazine, and hosts the magazine’s weekly podcast, Essential Conversations with Rabbi Rami (www.spiritualityhealth.com). Among Rami’s many books are Perennial Wisdom for the Spiritually Independent and The World Wisdom Bible.
