Pens and Prayer with Belinda Greenaway, $50
Saturday, April 17th, 2021, 10:00AM – 1:00PM Central Time
Offered online via Zoom.
Zentangle® is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images by drawing structured patterns, and lends itself very well to prayer and meditation. It is a calming and focussed method of drawing. The workshop will have 2 components. It will start with a brief introduction to Zentangle® and its creative method; and then we will learn some basic beginner’s patterns – called Tangles. After a short break you will be invited to experience the method as a focused and tactile form of prayer.
Emigrating from England in 1994, Belinda Greenaway has called Alabama home for many years. She raised two sons here and worked for some years as a Certified Pharmacy
Technician. A longtime member of the Episcopal Church she is deeply spiritual and leads a quietly contemplative life in the Tennessee Valley. In 2014, having quit her job, she found Zentangle® – or rather it found her – and her life took on a new journey. That of an artist. It made such an impact on her life, that in 2016 she journeyed to Providence, Rhode Island to become a Certified Zentangle® Teacher, so she could share the method with others. Retired now from the world of pharmacy she spends her quiet days walking, reading and of course creating works of art with the Zentangle® process.
Supplies required:
…First of all you will need a quiet space free from distractions, with room to draw. A lapboard can work for this.
… Four 3.5 inch by 3.5 inch square white watercolor paper tiles. You can cut these yourself or buy them from an art supply store. Any good quality paper will do as long as it is plain
…A black fine tipped micron marker …I prefer Sakura Micron 01 (which has 0.25mm tip) Whatever you use make sure it doesn’t bleed on your paper choice.
…an HB or B pencil
