Ten Ox-Herding Pictures
(All Event Times Listed are Central Standard Time)
Sewanee, TN 37375
The Ten Oxherding Pictures are a way of exploring the Zen training path to Enlightenment. In this daylong workshop, participants will explore the history and meaning of this ancient tradition. The sketches are an examination of your Buddha nature and your ego and how they evolve as you approach enlightenment but ultimately this workshop is about uncovering who the real you is that resides beneath the false self.
As part of this journey of self-discovery you will explore a greater understanding of:
-
- The Trinity of Self – Physical, Intellectual and Spiritual,
- The Three Commitments: Doing No Harm to Your Self and Others; Engaging in Compassionate Acts Everywhere; Accepting the World as it Unfolds,
- What enlightenment looks and feels like, and
- The practice of Zazen meditation.
This workshop will be led by Richard Dube’ — a naturalist, author, photographer, and educator. He is the author of three nonfiction books – Natural Pattern Forms; Natural Stonescapes; and Landscaping Makes Cents. He is a lecturer and public speaker on topics including Japanese garden design, permaculture, forestry, and birding.
This event is fully booked.
