In response to the social distancing recommended during Covid-19, St. Mary’s Sewanee: The Ayres Center for Spiritual Development is pleased to announce that it is offering retreat options in an online format at no charge.
“At St. Mary’s Sewanee, we are exploring new ways of finding peace together, even when we must stay apart,” said John Runkle, interim executive director. “It feels a bit surprising, but these new ways of connecting work!”
Using Zoom technology, St. Mary’s Sewanee is offering a weekly Centering Prayer support group on Tuesday afternoons. For information about how to participate send an email to <firstname.lastname@example.org>. There are also links on the St. Mary’s Sewanee website to Contemplative Outreach’s online Meditation Chapel, which has links to more than 45 other online meditation groups, some of which are in other countries and languages.
Gordon Peerman, a long-time teacher at St. Mary’s Sewanee and leader of the Mindfulness on the Mountain retreats, is making his online programs available through St. Mary’s Sewanee. His teachings and meditations through One River Wisdom Nashville are available on-demand and in real-time on Wednesday evenings. A link to these programs is on the St. Mary’s Sewanee website.
St. Mary’s Sewanee wants to assure everyone: we will be here when this crisis passes. We will be here for you to rest, renew, and reconnect. We eagerly await your arrival when it is safe for us to gather again.
