One Foot Judaism: an open-hearted Judaism for broken-hearted Jews

On October 7th, 2023, Jews experienced the largest and most brutal attack since the Holocaust. This pogrom by Hamas was followed within hours by calls for the global genocide of Jews by many of our Black, Feminist, Interfaith, and progressive “allies” leaving liberal Jews broken-hearted and adrift between the militarized messianism and impotent rhetoric. One Foot Judaism is a positive response to this despair celebrating Jewish culture, values, spirituality, and our prophets’ vision of a just, compassionate and peaceful world.

Over 2000 years ago, a Roman soldier challenged Rabbi Hillel to teach him the entire Torah while the soldier stood on one foot. Hillel replied, “What is hateful to you, do not to another.” Several centuries later Rabbi Abaye revealed that human thriving depends on being awake to Shekhinah, the presence of God in, with, and as all things. One Foot Judaismblends the Torah of Hillel with the revelation of Abaye to create a Judaism for transforming the world. Join Rabbi Rami and Frank Levy as they guide you along the path of One Foot Judaism through Shabbat, meditation, labyrinth walking, chanting, Torah turning, and contemplative conversation.

This retreat is for Jews and everyone who loves them.
