Group Retreats

Church groups, vestry and leadership groups, and other groups that desire a place to meet in quiet and tranquil surroundings are invited to host their retreat at St. Mary’s Sewanee.  The beauty and peacefulness of the St. Mary’s Sewanee campus is the perfect place for planning, visioning and forming community.  Groups are able to focus on their purpose for gathering and have an opportunity to increase their impact as they return to “normal” life. St. Mary’s Sewanee hosts groups of numerous religious denominations and faiths, as well as for-profit and nonprofit organizations. At St. Mary’s Sewanee, your group will be warmly accepted, and your spiritual needs nurtured by our dedicated staff.

Please note that St. Mary’s does not offer retreats or host groups during the weeks of Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.

Personal Retreats

Throughout a person’s spiritual journey, there are times that call for an inner focus between the individual and God. Personal retreats are an opportunity for retreatants to remove all outside distractions and help commit to a time of inner reflection and prayer throughout our quiet and comforting grounds.

Guests taking part in spiritual retreats often find themselves most comfortable in one of our private hermitages that provide quiet accommodations with striking views of the grounds around St. Mary’s Sewanee.

Worship services are available at several local churches or at the Community of St. Mary Convent.
