What This Workshop Offers
End-of-life planning is one of life's most profound acts of love — and in the sacred space of St. Mary's Sewanee, we invite you to approach it with openness, grace, and care. Through guided reflection and open conversation, participants will explore how to organize essential matters, communicate wishes with clarity, and create a legacy of love that continues to nurture family and friends long after we are gone. This workshop is for men and women alike — singles and couples will both benefit. This workshop honors the spiritual truth that loving preparation is itself a sacred practice. Program fees, materials, and lunch are included.
Retreat Leadership
June Mays brings a rare and richly layered perspective to this workshop. A former financial advisor with 31 years at Merrill Lynch and UBS, June spent much of her career helping women understand and take ownership of their financial lives — including publishing Women's Guide to Financial Self Defense with Warner Books. She knows firsthand how much clarity and preparation can mean to a family navigating loss. Warm, practical, and deeply thoughtful, June creates a safe and welcoming space for participants to approach end-of-life planning not with fear, but with love and intention. June and her husband Joe divide their time between Birmingham and Sewanee.

After 72 hours of registration, a $25 cancellation fee applies. There are no refunds within 7 days of the program arrival date.
Scholarships are available. Contact Reservations@stmaryssewanee.org for application.
*A minimum registration is required for retreats to take place. If the program does not meet the minimum registration within 2 weeks of the event, there is the possibility of cancellation. If SMS cancels a retreat for any reason, any registered guest will receive a full refund of all payments.
