Prepare a Restful Room for Someone Weary

This Giving Tuesday, help fit our guest rooms with warm quilts and a comfortable chair, so everyone who arrives tired finds rest waiting for them.

Those who carry everyone need someone to carry them.

Many people who come to St. Mary’s Sewanee have spent years caring for others: aging parents, congregations, patients, and whole communities. Some can’t remember the last time someone asked what they needed. They deserve a quiet place where, for once, someone else takes care of them.

A Place Ready to Receive Them

At St. Mary’s Sewanee, hospitality is a spiritual practice. Guests are greeted by name, and their room is ready when they arrive. Out on the bluff, the mountain holds its ground, and in that steadiness, guests learn to hold theirs. At the end of each day, they return to their room, where much of the rest settles in. That room should feel as warm as the welcome.

Give the Gift of Rest This Giving Tuesday

As the giving season sets in, we’re raising $25,000 to fit every one of our fifty guest rooms with two new quilts and a comfortable chair.

You can help greet the next person to arrive with a warm, cozy welcome:

Warm Quilts · $200

Two comforting quilts for the nights when rest finally comes.

A Cozy Chair · $300

A place to sit with a journal and a cup of tea at the start and end of each day.

A Whole Room · $500

Two quilts and a chair. One room, fully prepared with care.

Your Own Gift

Any amount helps make our rooms places of comfort and welcome.

Fifty warm rooms, ready to give rest to the weary.

When someone arrives after the long drive up the mountain, they’re carrying more weight than their luggage. But later that evening, when they settle into a comfortable chair and pull a warm quilt around their shoulders, they finally feel it: here, they don’t have to hold everything together.

A quilt and a chair are small things. To a weary guest, they’re a sign that someone prepared for their coming. This Giving Tuesday, that someone can be you.
